I am a writer, speaker, and certified life coach living near the foothills of Colorado's Rocky Mountains with my adult son, David, who is diagnosed with autism and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). LGS is a rare epilepsy disorder resulting in uncontrolled seizures, neurological impairment, and lifelong disability.
The challenges of raising David and two other sons pushed me onto a path of existential inquiry and spiritual seeking. I have been devoted to that path for more than two decades, soaking up the teachings of saints and sages, and have come to know their truth. As life continues to present its challenges, I am able to meet them with more peace, more joy, and freedom from within.
Since 2005, I’ve been a student of nonduality spiritual teachings and have had extensive training in various coaching, somatic, meditative, and mindfulness practices and modalities for personal growth and healing. In 2018, I became a certified life coach through Integral Coaching Canada. It is one of my greatest joys and honors to assist another in opening their hearts and minds to a freer, lighter, and happier way of living.
I am a contributing author to
Suddenly Brave Together, an anthology of letters written to mothers of newly diagnosed children, sharing hard-earned wisdom and optimism. As a keynote speaker, I have addressed conferences sponsored by Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado and Wyoming.
I invite you to explore the Media tab, where I have included talks, interviews, and a short documentary film about my son and me, centered on the internationally acclaimed
photographic project created by my sister, interdisciplinary artist Debe Arlook.
Under the Writings tab, you will find my essays, both written and read by me, exploring themes of acceptance, surrender, compassion, and trust in the greater wisdom of life and love.
